Greater Cleveland Aquarium’s underwater Halloween event

As the fall season burns into the Cleveland skyline, pint-sized ghosts, ghouls and goblins make their way to Greater Cleveland Aquarium.
Pumpkins & Piranhas, the Aquarium’s annual afterhours Halloween celebration, creeps back underwater October 24-28.
During this time, the attraction’s historic powerhouse home takes on a haunted tone, with not-too-spooky décor and hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns in and out of the water. As tiny vampires don their fake fangs for a night of fun, sand tiger and sandbar sharks show off their real toothy grins swimming overhead in a 175-foot sea tube. All the while, costumed divers, live animal encounters and supernatural entertainers engage with a parade of young superheroes and monsters.
Of course, don’t forget your goodie bag on the way out.
“No child wants to pull a coat on over their costume, so we’re excited to offer a Halloween event that’s perfect for any weather,” says Aquarium GM Stephanie White. “Our indoor venue ensures a warm and dry experience and, with access to the entire Aquarium, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Need just a little less input? The Aquarium accommodates guests with sensory and similar needs during its sensory friendly Pumpkins & Piranhas experience on Monday, October 28, with limited noise, softened lighting and adjusted activities to ensure a comfortable environment.
Of course, there’s always the online Wild, Weird & Creepy program, where an Aquarium educator walks you through some of nature’s most interesting creatures while you’re safe in the comfort of your home—just wait till you see the sea lampreys’ sharp rings of teeth.
For parents in need of something exciting, educational and fun for the little creatures in their lives, join the Aquarium for several nights of curiosity-inspiring frights. Advance registration is strongly recommended to ensure entry. Visit them online at greaterclevelandaquarium.com.
